Taiwan-based notebook makers to dominate the market in 2010

Acer and HP to compete for the top spot

According to Digitimes, laptop manufacturers based in Taiwan will ship more units in 2010 and secure better positions in the overall rankings.

Hewlett-Packard and Acer will allegedly compete for the crown with more than 40 million units expected to be shipped this year. The latter will allegedly dominate the netbook market and ship 12 million units in 2010, which is two times more than Asustek (6 million) and HP (6 million).

Digitimes says Dell will hold the third place with an overall shipment of 21 million mainstream notebooks and 3.8 million mini-laptops.

Reportedly, chances for the fourth spot will have Lenovo, Asustek and Toshiba. These PC makers will ship about 20 million units each.
