eviGroup rolls out a new slate Tablet

The multi-touch Paddle comes with a unique UI

Overview

The French company eviGroup has reportedly introduced another new slate Tablet. The 3G-sporting Paddle will be available to customers in Europe between April and June of this year.

Configuration

The new device is an updated version of the existing eviGroup Pad and comes with a 10.1-inch LED backlit multi-touch screen display. Furthermore, the Paddle is powered by the well known single core Intel Atom N270 central processing unit with a clock speed of 1.6GHz. Customers will be able to choose either an HDD model with up to 320GB of storage capacity or a Paddle with up to 32GB SSD (solid-state drive).

Connectivity

In terms of networking, the eviGroup Paddle features Wi-Fi and 3G modules. In addition, an optional external antenna connection is available, which provides extra Wi-Fi range but can supposedly be used in the future for digital TV reception.

There is also a built-in web camera with microphone for video conferencing.

Other specs, Pricing and Availability

The new Tablet will come with a pre-installed copy of either Windows XP or Windows 7 operating systems. Consumers will have the chance to experience a custom scrolling user interface, called Scale (see video) that runs as an application on top of the OS and lets you organize your programs and media.

The device will start shipping in Q2 of 2010 (April - June) with the “basic” models priced at €699 ($946).
