The Taiwanese PC case maker decides to upgrade its existing netbook line.

Taiwan-based PC case maker Casing Macron Technology brings out 10.2-inch netbooks, extending its lineup of 7-inch models. The company expects to start shipping the new netbooks to a number of regional telecom service providers in China at the end of May, according to company sources told Digitimes.

Casing Macro possesses in-house developed components, including cases, coolers and power supplies etc. which should reduce their overall manufacturing costs to a great level. That will enable them to transfer this price difference to the consumers. We are talking a good price reduction here.

In addition to China, the company is also planning to target white-box netbook vendors in emerging markets such as South Africa, Brazil and Russia – as reported by Digitimes.

Till now the company has only one category of netbook having 7-Inch panel and powered by 400 MHZ Intel/Marvell Xscale CPU. It has 128 SDRAM and an 80-keys keyboard with rechargeable Li-ion battery (2100 mAh). This 725 gm machine has the necessary connection options with USB 10/100M LAN adaptor, optional Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and one VGA connector.

Whether the new netbook will be a significant improvement remains to be seen. But at least expect an Atom processor with at least 512MB RAM and 80GB hard drive. Pricing and availability is not stated yet.
