Inventec expected to increase sales

Buoyant by orders from multiple manufacturers, Taiwanese notebook component manufacturer Inventec expected to increase shipping volume.

Inventec is expected to grow its shipping by 20% on last year with a shipment two million notebooks for the month. Digitimes reports increased orders for 13.3-inch ultra-thin notebooks from Acer and new orders for netbooks from Hewlett-Packard (HP) in June. But sources say that although the shipment grows by 20-30%, the revenue may only increase by a moderate 10%-15%.

"The forecasts from our clients are positive but our own forecast is cautious," Inventec President Paul Wang told reporters at a luncheon on Tuesday. "The U.S. market was not as bad as we had expected even though demand from Europe is not very good."

It has long been observed that there is a shortage of netbook parts in the market, specifically hitting the Taiwanese manufacturers. Inventec being one of the leading player in the market (World’s fourth largest contract maker of laptop PCs), it can well be the sign of a timely recovery.

In some other developments, Inventec Multimedia & Telecom, who a member of the Inventec group, has started shipping camera modules for notebooks to Toshiba. The company expects its products to also receive verification from Dell and Hewlett-Packard (HP) later in 2009, according to what Tom Cho, chairman of the company told Digitimes.
