It now has an 8-cell battery and the price has been dropped by $100
The MSI X-Slim series of notebooks are the ones which compete with the likes of the Apple MacBook Air in terms of size and weight. The MSI X340 is a 13.4-inch ultra-portable with a 1.4GHz Core2 Solo processor, 2GB RAM, 320GB hard disk, and Windows Vista operating system. MSI has recently added some juice into this notebook by fitting it with an 8-cell Li-Ion battery that will last for around 8 hours 48 minutes (as per company claims). This means that the battery life has almost doubled from the previous claims of 3 hours 38 minutes with a 4-cell battery. In fact the new 8-cell battery has more juice then the one found on the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810T whose battery lasted for 8 hours 5 minutes on the laptop battery test.
The best part about the new battery is that it fits nicely into the underside of the chassis due to its wedge shaped design. The huge battery adds a little bit of weight to the X340, which now weighs 3.4 pounds (earlier weight was 2.9 pounds). The great news for users is that this new model now costs $100 less than the earlier price tag of $899. Moreover, MSI has also added a new keyboard to this model which is less bumpy than the older version.
