Motorola Razr Plus 2024 and Razr 50 Ultra leaks with familiar design
MSPoweruser claims to have obtained the first render image for Motorola's next foldable smartphone. For context, Motorola currently sells two clamshell foldable smartphones, unlike many of its competitors. On the one hand, it offers the Razr 40, Razr Gen 3 in North America, a comparatively cheap device that utilises Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. On the other hand, there is also the Razr 40 Ultra (Razr+), a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip5, albeit one that relies upon an older flagship chipset than Samsung's model.
According to MSPoweruser, the device pictured below will succeed the latter rather than the former. However, the website has not offered any evidence that supports this assertion other than through the following statement:
The phone will be available in the US through Verizon Wireless...under the Razr+ branding.
Assuming Motorola maintains its existing nomenclature, a new Razr+ would be sold outside North America as the Razr 50 Ultra. Seemingly, Motorola has not made any design changes between generations, though. In fact, the sole image that MSPoweruser has provided could easily be mistaken for a new Razr 40 Ultra colour variant. MSPoweruser adds that Motorola has codenamed its next flagship Razr handset 'Glory' and is developing it under the model number 'XT-2453-3' with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Motorola will replace the Razr 40 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-based successor.
