Honor continues to drip-feed information about the Magic V5 after publishing a trio of official renders a few days ago. Due July 2, the company previously claimed that its next foldable would be the thinnest and lightest of its kind.
In other words, the Magic V5 would need to undercut the Oppo Find N5 in terms of thickness while also surpassing the Vivo X Fold3 and, by extension, the forthcoming X Fold5 in terms of weight. Now, Honor has provided details about the former, at least in one regard.
According to Honor, the Magic V5 will come in at 8.8 mm for a reduction of 0.4~0.5 mm from last year's Magic V3 (curr. $1,600 on Amazon). Consequently, the Magic V5 will be 0.1 mm thinner than the Oppo Find N5, too. In practice, one may struggle to determine a 1.1% size difference in person, though. Assuming a total bezel thickness of 0.5 mm would yield a thickness of approximately 4.15 mm when opened too.
It is worth noting that recent Magic V and Magic Vs models have varied in thickness depending on their finishes. Thus, some Magic V5 may be thicker than Honor's official 8.8 mm dimensions. Also, Honor is unable to guarantee that the Magic V5 will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold7. Instead, Honor only expects to offer 'the world's thinnest foldable device throughout 2025'.
