The Honor "500" is now backed to launch with a 200MP main rear camera despite its status as a vanilla premium mid-range Android smartphone; then again, that is not huge news as its 400-series predecessor did the same.
It would be a bigger deal if Honor's next-gen foldable smartphone were to accommodate that same class-leading sensor rather than settling for the more standard 50MP main shooter of the Magic V5 - and that is exactly what the OEM is currently considering, according to the prolific leaker Digital Chat Station.
Should the "V6" really be able to integrate the 200MP spec with the V5's industry-leading reputation for durability despite being one of the world's thinnest and lightest foldable smartphones, that would indeed be something to look forward to.
The "Magic V6" could also be the world's first MagicOS 10 foldable on its launch. It could still be outdone by the non-foldable "Magic8 Ultra" and its rumored dual 200MP cameras, though.
Both top-end smartphones might have the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, based on the precedent set by their respective previous generations.
Then again, foldable fans just might have to brace themselves for the eventuality that Honor might opt for the slightly less premium Snapdragon "8 Gen 5" in its next-gen Magic V-series flagship instead in order to manage the potentially sky-high cost of building what might be the world's first non-Samsung 200MP foldable smartphone.
