Xiaomi will win the race for the adoption of Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Xiaomi 17 series will debut this month in China, but will be followed right after by Honor, with new information now surfacing on the company's launch plans.
As shared by Fixed Focus Digital, Honor is readying a number of new devices to debut next month. Of those, some will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5; namely, the Honor Magic Pad3 Pro and at least one model in the Magic8 series. Supposedly, those devices are currently scheduled to be presented on October 15.
The Magic8 series will launch as a direct successor to last year's Magic7 lineup, and it's expected that devices like the Magic8, Magic8 Pro, and Magic8 Mini could debut on October 15. Of those, the Magic8 Pro will likely feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Reportedly, the Magic8 lineup will be AI-focused and will offer a 200 MP main camera and periscope zoom lens combo.
The Magic Pad3 Pro also looks nailed-on to be equipped with the Qualcomm chipset, and has been widely reported to arrive as the first tablet with that SoC. In addition to all of those, word on the grapevine also indicates that Honor will present the Watch5 Pro and Earbuds 4 at the same event.
