Jason Schreier's Kinda Funny Games podcast appearance addressed many of Warner Bros. Games' failed endeavors. The journalist also discussed some franchises that the publisher is more optimistic about. Commenting on the Avalanche Software wizarding games, Schreier clarified that Hogwarts Legacy 2 would not be a live-service title. He also confirmed that the Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is in development. New Hogwarts Legacy DLC for current players may accompany this release.
Hogwarts Legacy players have been dreading a live-service sequel. The first game is a single-player experience where players can explore without encountering micro-transactions. Fortunately, Schreier said many upcoming WB Games titles will not use this format. These games include a Rocksteady Batman project and Hogwarts Legacy 2.
WB Games may not see live-service elements as a fit for Hogwarts Legacy 2. Or, the lukewarm reception to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has persuaded the publisher to take a different approach. Another concern for players is that the sequel will depend on narratives from an upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot series. Many players enjoy the unique storyline and characters in the game that do not appear in books.
Harry Potter fans are anxious for new details about the sequel, which still has no confirmed release date. To tide players over, Avalanche Software recently announced mod support for Hogwarts Legacy. Also, the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition could supply rare new official content. Schreier reiterated that the Definitive Edition is on its way. Still, it's unknown if it will introduce a separate Hogwarts Legacy DLC for an added cost.
Even though Hogwarts Legacy remains extremely popular, any new DLC likely won't lead to immense profits. On the other hand, Hogwarts Legacy 2 could provide enough magic to change the bleak financial picture at WB Games.
