DJI has officially taken the wraps off its Mini 5 Pro drone with a 1-inch 50 MP sensor, omnidirectional LiDAR obstacle sensing, 4K/120fps video, and 225° gimbal rotation, starting at 799 EUR (~$947) and going up to 1,129 EUR (~1,138) for the Fly More Combo.

After weeks of leaks and rumors, DJI has finally made its newest compact drone, the Mini 5 Pro, official. The new model introduces several firsts to the Mini lineup, including a 1-inch 50 MP CMOS sensor, omnidirectional obstacle sensing with LiDAR, and 225° gimbal roll rotation for greater shooting flexibility over the Mini 4 Pro (curr. $759 on Amazon).

The Mini 5 Pro is the first DJI Mini series drone to adopt a 1-inch sensor, which is capable of capturing 50 MP stills and 4K/60fps HDR video with up to 14 stops of dynamic range. A new 48 mm telephoto mode provides higher digital zoom compared to earlier models, while DJI’s portrait optimization should cater towards better skin tones, brightness, and contrast. The drone also supports 4K/120fps slow motion and 10-bit H.265 recording. Expanded ISO ranges (up to 12,800 in D-Log M mode, 3,200 in HLG) should deliver better performance in low light and night cityscapes.

The Mini 5 Pro is launching with an omnidirectional vision sensing system, including front-facing LiDAR, fisheye cameras, binocular sensors, and an underside infrared sensor. This setup is present for obstacle detection during daytime and nighttime flights. Features such as Return-to-Home without GNSS, which uses real-time positioning and mapping, will enable the drone to navigate back safely even in GPS-denied environments like balconies. Additionally, Dual-band GNSS (L1 + L5) should improve positioning accuracy, alongside ActiveTrack 360° for customizable subject tracking across varied scenarios.

The gimbal now supports 225° wide-angle roll rotation for vertical shooting and more dynamic camera moves. DJI has also added True Vertical Shooting for instant portrait-orientation captures (for social media). The drone comes with QuickShot and Waypoint Flight modes. The Mini 5 Pro also includes standard DJI intelligent shooting tools, including:

  • MasterShots, which automatically generates cinematic camera movements.
  • QuickShots with modes such as Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Boomerang, and Asteroid.
  • Panorama support for wide scene capture.

Files can be transferred via Off-State QuickTransfer at speeds up to 100 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6, even when the drone is powered off.

DJI Care Refresh protection plans are available for the Mini 5 Pro. The plan covers collisions, flyaway incidents, and water damage. Customers can choose a 1-year plan with up to two replacements or a 2-year plan with up to four replacements, along with warranty coverage and free shipping.
