Apple Watch X could launch with new blood pressure feature this fall
A new version of the Apple Watch with a blood-pressure tracking feature is expected to launch this fall. In their latest newsletter, Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman indicated that the Apple Watch Series 9 successor would gain this health monitoring tool. However, the feature is unlikely to be rolled out to older versions of the smartwatch.
It is thought that the next Apple Watch will simply alert users if particularly high blood pressure is detected rather than provide a readout. This means the tool would be less powerful than that of the Huawei Watch D, which is more like a wrist-based monitor with an inflating strap. It has been suggested that this is Apple’s first step in providing customers with information about their blood pressure, with a more advanced tool possibly arriving at a later date.
This is not the first time an Apple Watch blood pressure measurement feature has been mentioned. Rumors began some time ago, with Gurman mentioning the tool in an earlier edition of the Power On newsletter. Here, a thinner case and new magnetic bands were also mentioned, alongside a sleep apnea detection feature that alerts you if your breathing stops and starts when you are sleeping. The latest edition of the wearable will likely launch alongside the iPhone 16 sometime around September.
