Apple has received clearance to market its latest Watches as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) -approved sleep apnea detection devices. Accordingly, they can start using their clinically-validated Breathing Disturbance analysis features in the US from today (September 17, 2024). They are available on the new Watch 10 as well as its predecessor and Ultra predecessor.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is already available to pre-order via channels such as Amazon, starting at $489.99 for the traditional aluminum version, but rising to $794 for the new titanium alternative in the latest Gold color.

The Cupertino giant commands those prices in part due to the 10's status as the latest new smartwatch to launch with sleep apnea-tracking features.

Apple has make good on its Breathing Disturbances launch hype by ensuring that the Watch 10 will indeed be an official, FDA-approved over-the-counter Device To Assess Risk Of Sleep Apnea in the US from its September 20, 2024 release.

Accordingly, the feature will also be available on the Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, as they are now able to update to the latest watchOS 11 UI.

The wearables will be capable of sending alerts on the potentially hazardous condition to their users, with the goal of encouraging more of them to seek a formal diagnosis and treatment if necessary.
