Xiaomi Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro smartwatches get Wear OS 4 in new update
The Xiaomi Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro have started to receive Wear OS 4. Users in European countries like the UK and Spain have reported the update on Reddit, though Xiaomi has yet to officially acknowledge the global update. This appears to be a phased rollout, with no indication of when the release will reach all customers.
These Xiaomi smartwatch users have reported more minor changes, such as a new font and icons. As expected, there are reported to be new watch faces, though some Pixel watch faces are no longer supported. According to Reddit, there are also bug fixes for issues such as the Do Not Disturb mode failing to sync with your phone. It is worth noting that the skin temperature sensor on the Watch 2 Pro still does not work. Whether this update will improve the battery life of the wearable, one of the benefits seen on other Wear OS 4 watches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch4, also remains to be seen.
The Wear OS 4 update for the Xiaomi Watch 2 and Watch 2 Pro is large, with one user reporting that it took over three hours to download and install. You can check for the update by going to Settings > System > Firmware update. This is the latest watch to receive Wear OS 4, arriving a few weeks after the release for Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 series smartwatches.
