It's October 7, 2022, and Apple has activated the order button found under that of the new iPhone 14 on its official Apple Store page as promised; then again, the 14 Plus to land on other sites such as Amazon at the time of writing.
This latest variant resurrects the Plus name for the first time since 2017, and, much like its predecessor, offers all the specs of its base-model counterpart, just in a larger, 6.7-inch display chassis.
Therefore, Apple is banking on its appeal being in having a display of the same size and very nearly the same resolution as the 14 Pro Max for less money.
Then again, it will be relatively difficult to mistake a 14 Plus for the outright flagship in 2022, as the Pro Max is the only one of the 2 with a 120Hz display that moreover, moves on to the new Dynamic Island cut-out on top of that.
Then again, the Plus is likely to be the lighter device, and is already attracting compliments on its battery life in review thus far; whether this kind of reception can stop it going the way of the 13 Mini remains to be seen.
Stay tuned for our upcoming iPhone 14 Plus review to find out if it might be worth its slightly higher starting price (US$899, CA$1,249 or €1,149 (the minimum depending on location) in Europe) for your purposes.
