YouTube takes down Moore's Law Is Dead AMD Zen 7 leak, leaker calls it anti-free speech action

Serial leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead recently leaked the AMD Zen 7 architecture in detail. MLID revealed the performance and specifications of the Zen 7 EPYC workstation CPUs, Zen 7 Grimlock desktop CPUs, Grimlock Point mainstream laptop chips, and Grimlock Halo enthusiast laptop chips. You can check out our full article that goes over these details here.
As it turns out, someone didn’t like MLID leaking Zen 7 in such great detail, as YouTube has taken down the video under discussion. MLID calls this “yet another case of anti-free speech actions by YT” and explains that he is going to fight this dispute.
At first glance, this looks like a classic case of a company going after a YouTuber by copyright striking their video. This has happened to MLID in the past when the leaker revealed details about Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) image upscaling tech before the official release. Sony got YouTube to take down MLID’s video regarding PSSR.
So, YouTube’s removal of MLID’s Zen 7 video has all the markings of AMD copyright striking the video. However, Tom from MLID explains that although “YouTube gave no information as to why” the video was removed and who was involved, he does have a “hunch as to what's going on”. The YouTuber doesn’t believe that it’s “related to AMD at this point”.
There is no shortage of controversies involving the use or misuse of YouTube’s copyright system. Critics claim that the system is rigged in favor of the party making the copyright claim, regardless of the claim’s merit.
However, MLID’s situation seems to be a bit different as the affected video has been removed “due to a privacy claim by a third party”. This is different than a copyright strike, as the privacy claim pertains to matters where someone’s personal information has been used without explicit permission.
MLID suggests users stay tuned to follow the case development. The video remains banned at the time of writing. We’ll keep readers informed as new details come to light.
