There seems to be a new trend in the world of AAA games: increasing storage space requirements. While it’s not unusual for newer games to require more hard drive space, there has been a spike in storage requirements with newer games demanding north of 100 GB of free space.
However, the upcoming Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond may take the cake for the highest amount of hard drive space needed. Just to download, unpack, and install the game, users will need more than 340 GB of free storage, according to the game’s minimum specifications.
Once the game is installed, it will occupy over 170 GB. This is primarily due to the abundance of cinematics tied to the 50+ missions in the campaign and the copious amounts of historical documentary footage.
Other minimum specifications, as reported by Polygon and the game’s developer, include:
- Intel Core i7-9700K (or equivalent AMD CPU)
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM
- Nvidia GTX 2080 or higher
As the game’s developer noted on Reddit, gamers should “make sure [they] use an SSD to play this game.”
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond releases on Oculus Rift and Steam (for other VR headsets) on December 11.
