Xiaomi tipped to double down on large batteries for upcoming Redmi Note series

The Redmi Note 15 series introduced a handful of new mid-range phones, and in China, a couple of the smartphones in the lineup came with relatively large batteries. To be specific, the Chinese versions of the Note 15 Pro and Note 15 Pro+ feature a 7,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi is expected to introduce the successor lineup before the end of 2026, and so far, there have been a couple of reports surrounding it. Some of them point out that the company will skip a number and jump straight to the Redmi Note 17 moniker. This wouldn't be a surprising move. as these Chinese brands do it quite often.
Another report, from prolific leaker Digital Chat Station, hinted that the lineup will include a phone with a 10,000mAh battery. This would be quite a jump from what the current series tops out, and the leaker has once again reported something similar.
As the new report suggests, the upcoming Redmi Note 17 series will feature balanced phones. In addition to the 10,000mAh capacity, the report notes that there will be 100W fast charging support, which would allow the large battery to go from 0% to 100% quickly (140W Anker charger curr. $64.99 on Amazon).
A 200MP primary camera has also been hinted at, but this wouldn't be a new thing, as the Redmi Note 15 series has multiple phones with such a camera. The new report adds that the lineup will offer phones with a metal mid-frame and an optical fingerprint sensor.
There will reportedly be a 1.5K LTPS high refresh rate screen as well, and the series is expected to be powered by mid-range Dimensity processors. That said, the Redmi Note 17 series may not be the only lineup with such specs, as Vivo and iQOO are also said to be working on competitive mid-range phones.
