Samsung raises Galaxy S26 production to 3 million units in April

Samsung has increased its Galaxy S26 production target for April 2026 from 2.4 million to 3 million units, a jump of 600,000 devices, according to a report from third-party media. The revision comes after orders in March came in higher than the company had anticipated.
The updated breakdown puts Galaxy S26 production at 1.3 million units, the Galaxy S26 Ultra at 1.5 million units, and the Galaxy S26+ at 200,000 units. Samsung ordered the additional components in March, and they are now going into finished devices.
The Ultra is leading demand
The Galaxy S26 Ultra accounts for between 60% and 80% of total Galaxy S26 series demand, depending on the source, making it the highest Ultra share ever recorded within a Galaxy S lineup. Industry officials cited by third-party media pointed to the model's Privacy Display feature as a key factor. The technology restricts the viewing angle at the hardware level, meaning only the person directly in front of the screen can see the display content.
The base S26 is a surprise performer
While the Ultra leads overall volume, the standard Galaxy S26 saw the largest production increase of the three models, rising by 500,000 units in the April revision. Analysts attribute this to buyers seeking flagship-level performance without the larger screen or price tag of the Ultra.
The Galaxy S26+ is moving in the opposite direction. Samsung cut its April production by 100,000 units, bringing it down to 200,000 units for the month, continuing a trend of the middle-tier model drawing less interest than its siblings.
Mid-range production takes a hit
The production shift has consequences further down Samsung's lineup. The Galaxy A57 has had its April target reduced from 1.8 million to 1.6 million units, while the Galaxy A17 dropped from 4.4 million to 3.9 million units. Rising memory costs are cited as a contributing factor, making it harder to maintain pricing on lower-end devices.
Samsung has reportedly trimmed its production forecast for May 2026, though specific figures have not been confirmed. The company recently cut prices on the Galaxy S26 and S26+ by $100 each, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra receiving a $200 reduction.
