While Xiaomi has now postponed its December 1 hardware launch event, it continues to reveal more details about its upcoming products. For example, shortly before today’s announcement, Xiaomi showcased camera specifications and samples of the Xiaomi 13 series, the details of which we have covered separately. Additionally, the company has outlined a few Watch S2 tidbits, including an advanced health tracking feature.
Specifically, the Watch S2 can calculate a wearer’s body fat percentage. The Watch S2 would be one of a few smartwatches to support the functionality, although Samsung released an equivalent last year with the Galaxy Watch4 series. Seemingly, the Watch S2 measures body fat in the same manner as the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 series too, with the smartwatch shown to take a reading when its wearer has two fingers placed on its hardware buttons.
The Watch S2 will be available in 42 mm and 46 mm case sizes, unlike its predecessor. Xiaomi will release the Watch S2 in multiple styles though, as the company’s teasers below showcase. Prices remain unknown at this stage, as does the Watch S2’s new release date. The Watch S2 is likely to take a few months to launch globally, if the Watch S1 is anything go by. Despite debuting last December in China, Xiaomi decided to wait until March before announcing the smartwatch in Europe.
