Huawei has shared its first teaser for the Watch Buds, a smartwatch that also contains a pair of TWS earbuds. Originally slated for a December 2 release, Huawei has now postponed the launch date as a mark of respect to former CCP General Secretary Jiang Zemin.

Huawei has finally confirmed the existence of the Watch Buds, nearly nine months after the company filed a trade mark for the device in Europe. More recently, photos and and a video of apparent retail units leaked, in which the smartwatch’s hidden earbuds were shown. While it remains unclear from where the hands-on photos and video originate, Huawei’s teaser video confirms their authenticity.

As its name suggests, the Watch Buds is part smartwatch and part earbuds. Seemingly, Huawei has adapted the design of the Watch GT 3 series, with the Watch Buds sporting a slim frame, a digital crown and a subtly curved display. We suspect that the Watch Buds is running an adapted version of HarmonyOS 3 too, with Huawei hinting at some unique software integration between the smartwatch and its earbuds.

Originally, Huawei planned to announce the Watch Buds on December 2, a day after the Xiaomi Watch S2 was scheduled to debut. However, the passing of former CCP General Secretary Jiang Zemin has resulted in a mass cancellation of all product announcements in China over the next few days, including Xiaomi’s. As a result, Huawei may now wait until the middle of December before it introduces the Watch Buds and other new devices.
