The Huawei Watch Buds have received another outing online. Showcased a few days ago with leaked retail packaging, a Weibo leaker now claims that Huawei will release the Watch Buds on December 9 alongside the FreeBuds 5i and the Nova 10 SE. Separately, a hands-on video has highlighted how the smartwatch’s unique feature works, with leaker @RODENT950 jokingly likening the Watch Buds to a waffle iron.
Surprisingly, the earbuds attach to the display rather than the watch body. However, the earbuds use recesses in the smartwatch’s body to recharge, with two sets of charging pins shown within one cavity. Overall, Huawei’s design differs from those like the Lemfo T92, in which it is possible to remove the earbuds without disturbing the display.
By contrast, the Watch Buds has a hinged display and a simple clasp securing the display and smartwatch body. The Watch Buds appears to be relatively thin though, despite the inclusion of two earbuds, so we can only assume that the smartwatch has a comparatively small battery capacity to compensate. From earlier leaks, it seems that Huawei hopes to launch the Watch Buds in Europe at some stage too and not just China, as eventually proved the case with the Watch D.
