Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro could still be a way off from global release
The Smart Band 8 Pro has taken another step closer to receiving a global release. To recap, the wearable was recently certified by the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM Berhad), which confirmed a global M2333B1 model number. Now, The Tech Outlook has spotted the same model number on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Embedded below, the screenshot shows that the TDRA only issued its certification for M2333B1 to Xiaomi on December 5. While this certification expires in three years' time, we would expect Xiaomi to introduce the Smart Band 8 Pro in the UAE and other markets before that date. However, the new certification underlines that Xiaomi is still actively seeking approval from regulatory bodies to sell the fitness tracker outside its home market.
Consequently, it seems unlikely that Xiaomi is ready to offer the Smart Band 8 Pro globally yet. Instead, an early 2024 release appears more probable. Based on previous years, Xiaomi could tie the Smart Band 8 Pro's global introduction with the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, which are expected to debut internationally in Q1 2024. Please see our Smart Band 8 Pro launch article for hardware details and how the wearable differs from its predecessor.
