Lei Jun has taken to Weibo to praise the merits of the ground-breaking Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone. His post mentions the fact that the Xiaomi device has now found an exhibition place in no less than three world-class museums in Europe: the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Design Museum in Helsinki, and the Die Neue Sammlung in Munich.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix has actually been part of the Centre Pompidou’s lineup since 2017, with its full-screen display design and ceramic casing helping it stand-out from the less dynamic smartphone crowd of the time. The French designer Philippe Starck helped make the Mi Mix smartphone, influencing its design with his beliefs about the image being the most important aspect and how crucial ceramic was as part of the materials for the Mi Mix.
It’s a testament to the appeal and innovation of the original Xiaomi Mi Mix that it can be found in the collections of three important design museums. Starck apparently enjoyed the experience of working with Xiaomi on the Mi Mix smartphone, and he also helped design the successor Mi Mix 2. Hopefully, it won’t be too much more of a wait before Xiaomi amazes the smartphone-buying public with a new Mi Mix device.
