Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and Mi Mix 3 owners can sample Android 11 via ArrowOS 11.0 custom ROM
Custom ROMs have provided a lifeline to smartphone users who find their device is no longer officially supported by the OEM it came from. In this case, both the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and Mi Mix 3 have new custom ROM service provided to them by ArrowOS, which is based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Be sure to save your data before installing a custom ROM on either of these Xiaomi smartphones.
For the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, the Android 11-based ArrowOS 11.0 custom ROM, via XDA Developers, is reported as having “almost everything” working. The build is listed as alpha, so users will have to expect some hitches and glitches along the way. Reported issues include Encryption, Wi-Fi Display, and Android Auto, with the frequently encountered SELinux permissive status also reported.
The slightly newer Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, which sported Android 9 Pie upon its release, also has ArrowOS 11.0 custom ROM for Android 11 support. This build status is also alpha, so downloading it means basically testing it out. Like with the ROM for the Mi Mix 2S, reported bugs include the Wi-Fi Display and Android Auto not working, and there is a problem with “OK Google” when the display is off.
