The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro may already be selling well in China, but the two devices are yet to receive a global release. Due to be launched on March 27, Xiaomi has now demonstrated the capabilities of the device's 108 MP camera, and the results are impressive.

The Mi 10 series are some of the first smartphones to feature a 108 MP camera, although they are not the first Xiaomi handsets to do so. We have already seen how well the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX performs in the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro, with Xiaomi including the same 108 MP camera in the Mi Mix Alpha too. While the dynamic range that it offered in low-light conditions did not impress us, the details it captures in daylight did.

Ahead of their global launch on March 27, Xiaomi has been showcasing the camera capabilities of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Last week the company showcased the series' "cinematic video" capabilities, and now it has published images "shot from space".

While these sample shots look rich and detailed, there is one caveat worth bearing in mind. As Xiaomi concedes in the video below, it did not send a Mi 10 Pro into space. Instead, the company launched a satellite that it claims contained the same 108 MP camera as the Mi 10 series does. We will have to take Xiaomi's word on this one. Additionally, we have no way of verifying whether these photos have been edited in post-production.

Overall, the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX is one of the best smartphone camera sensors right now. The 40 MP and 48 MP sensors of the Honor V30 and Oppo Find X2 Pro underline that image quality is more just megapixel count, though.
