Xiaomi CIVI 2 launch imminent with global launch also planned as Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE or Xiaomi 13 Lite
Xiaomiui claims to have unearthed details about the CIVI 2, a successor to both the CIVI and the CIVI 1S. According to the website, Xiaomi has finalised the device's initial software release, V184.108.40.206.SLLCNXM, which it will distribute in China. Purportedly, the CIVI 2 could launch later this month in China, although Xiaomi has not started teasing a new product release yet.
Allegedly codenamed Ziyi, the CIVI 2 is rumoured to rely on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, a chipset that Qualcomm unveiled in May 2022. Equipped with four ARM Cortex-A710 CPU cores, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 also has four Cortex-A510 CPU cores, an Adreno 662 GPU and support for up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. For some reason, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has proven an unpopular chipset so far, with the likes of Nothing preferring the Snapdragon 778G Plus instead.
Additionally, the CIVI 2 is expected to feature a 120 Hz AMOLED display. Reputedly, Xiaomi will release the CIVI 2 outside China, unlike the CIVI and CIVI 1S. However, Xiaomiui believes that the CIVI 2 name will remain a Chinese exclusive. In typical Xiaomi fashion, Xiaomiui asserts that the CIVI 2 will launch globally as the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE or the Xiaomi 13 Lite. Presumably, Xiaomi will opt for the former if the device is ready for release ahead of the Xiaomi 13 series' announcement. If that does not come off, then we would imagine that Xiaomi will push pack the device's global release until the winter at the earliest.
