Xiaomi CIVI 2: Launch date and design confirmed as company teases specifications
Xiaomi has lifted the lid on the CIVI 2, arguably a successor to both the CIVI and the CIVI 1S. Previewed on Weibo, the CIVI 2 receives a huge camera housing and one that mimics Xiaomi's flagships like the Xiaomi 12S Pro. Additionally, Xiaomi continues to push the CIVI series with a focus on fashion, as its marketing images show. In that vein, Xiaomi will release the CIVI 2 Hello Kitty special edition model.
So far, Xiaomi has confirmed that the CIVI 2 weighs 171.8 g and is 7.23 mm thick. Separately, the device will launch with Dolby Atmos-capable speakers, albeit without a dedicated 3.5 mm jack. Instead, the CIVI 2 will deliver wired audio via its USB Type-C port. Moreover, the CIVI 2 features three rear-facing cameras with a 50 MP primary sensor. Seemingly lacking optical stabilisation (OIS), we imagine that Xiaomi has complemented the 50 MP camera with ultra-wide-angle and depth of field cameras.
The Xiaomi CIVI 2 will debut in China on September 27. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has shared any pricing details yet, although it would appear that the CIVI 2 will be a mid-range smartphone, rather than a flagship one. Purportedly, Xiaomi will reveal the CIVI 2 globally as the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE or Xiaomi 13 Lite. All models are rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, with Xiaomi finally moving away from the Snapdragon 778G series.
