The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X, still not released outside China, are comparatively small smartphones in the scheme of things. Both with 6.28-inch displays, the pair are significantly smaller than the Xiaomi 12 Pro. However, Samsung is preparing to release an even more compact smartphone, the Galaxy S22, which has a 6.1-inch display. Additionally, Apple already sells the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, 5.4-inch smartphones that still feature flagship hardware.
Allegedly, Xiaomi is considering releasing a 'Mini' smartphone as well under the Xiaomi 12 series. Purportedly, Xiaomi has finalised the device's design, which has been reproduced in a concept render. Shared by @Shadow_Leak, the render shows the Xiaomi 12 Mini with three rear-facing cameras, including a much larger bottom lens.
Presumably, the Xiaomi 12 Mini would at least be as small as the ASUS ZenFone 8, which has a 5.9-inch display. Currently, the ZenFone 8 is one of the most compact Android smartphones, although it is noticeably larger than the iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 13 mini. Without a verified source, we would recommend treating the render with a healthy amount of scepticism for the time being. While there had been rumours of a Xiaomi 12 Mini last year, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 12X instead.
