World of Warcraft legacy raids to return in a single-player mode
After more than 17 years since the release of the first World of Warcraft expansion, The Burning Crusade, Blizzard is gearing up for the 10th such update to its popular title, namely The War Within. Dragonflight, the most recent expansion, arrived at the end of November 2022, pushing the level cap to 70 and revamping the user interface alongside the talent tree system. The War Within will push the level cap to 80 and promises to deliver a story mode that will allow solo players to enjoy the in-game story entirely.
While talking to PC Gamer's Tyler Colp, Blizzard associate game director Morgan Day revealed a few interesting things about the upcoming story mode. According to him, this mode could also offer a chance for new players to get back to the basics and experience the classic raid moments in a single-player setting. "Wouldn't it be cool if I do Wrath of the Lich King Chromie Time, and I end my leveling experience defeating Arthas? How cool would that be?" he said.
Since the raids from the first four expansions came over a decade ago, it is obvious that many of the existing World of Warcraft players would get to experience them for the first time. Also, those who have been with this game since the beginning will surely enjoy re-living those chapters in a single-player approach.
As revealed by Product Director Michael Bybee, "We want to understand how you guys respond to it, because that's going to shape what we do next. Maybe people prefer something else. Maybe they want a different version of it." This means that once the single-player mode comes out, its future will be decided by the feedback of the community.
Sadly, there is no release date for the implementation of legacy raids in the single-player story mode, but it is certain that this will happen a while after the arrival of The War Within. However, until that happens, those interested in taking their World of Warcraft experience into the real world can do so in the kitchen, with the help of Chelsea Monroe-Cassel's World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook, which is available for Kindle at $17.99 (free with Kindle Unlimited), $9.99 in digital form, and $20.13 in hardcover format.
