Rumors | World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will support various game controllers — and consoles, hopefully — PlayStation 5 included
If everything works well, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands should arrive later this year. Announced and made available for preorder back on November 1, 2019, at BlizzCon, this is the eighth expansion pack for the popular MMORPG developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Leaving aside all the content-related changes, it seems that World of Warcraft players will also get support for multiple game controllers.
The strings found by Twitter user Bernd Lörwald, a software engineer at Fraunhofer ITWM, in the Shadowlands Alpha game file "DefaultGamePadBindings.wtf" mention three consoles by Sony — PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and the next-gen PlayStation 5. The name of the file should say it all, but there are a lot of things that will be revealed at launch, most likely. The essential question that needs an answer is "Will World of Warcraft: Shadowlands be available for consoles as well?" and, unfortunately, there is no answer to it yet.
As usual, all the above should be taken with a grain of salt for now. Still being tested as an Alpha piece of code for now, the game has no official launch date yet, so we should live with "someday this year" until further notice.
If you happen to be one of the chosen few who are already testing World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, feel free to drop some of your thoughts in the comments section — as long as there's no NDA involved that should keep you silent for the time being, of course.
