Xiaomi reveals new compact Robot Vacuum S20
Xiaomi has revealed the Robot Vacuum S20 on its global website. The model is described as “tiny, smart and powerful”, with a relatively basic feature set compared to recently released models like the Roborock Qrevo Master.
The S20 delivers up to 5,000Pa suction power across three power modes, with a central roller brush and smaller side brush for edge cleaning. Thanks to an onboard 400 ml dustbin and 270 ml water tank, Xiaomi suggests that these can be emptied or refilled infrequently. On top of this, the dustbin is said to have a new barrier design to ensure dust is trapped inside. Using an LDS laser navigation system, the robot can move in zigzag or Y-shaped patterns as it cleans. Plus, sensors help it to detect and avoid obstacles such as your pet or shoes.
Controls are offered via the Mi Home or Xiaomi Home app, where you can adjust maps, remotely start cleaning or set up a schedule. Alternatively, you can control the robot with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. The model is of average size at 325 mm (~12.8 inches) wide and has a 3,200 mAh battery, automatically returning to the charging dock as needed. It remains to be seen when and where the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S20 launches and at what price. The company already sells a variety of models in Europe, like the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S12, which is priced at €299.99.
