Volkswagen has now announced that delivery figures for its electric ID.-series vehicles have hit the half-million mark worldwide. Of those still on order, the company also claims that 135,000 of those units are currently being produced - an improvement of 65% compared to the state of their manufacture in 2021, the prevailing "strained supply situation" notwithstanding.
The family of vehicles in question consists of the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and the China-only ID.6, and also encompasses the new ID. Buzz (which, ironically, may be facing delivery delays in Europe). Its upcoming new addition, the ID. Aero, is now projected to be joined by up to 9 new siblings by 2026.
Volkswagen indicates that they, too, will also be based on its current MEB platform for its e-vehicles. The marque has also now revealed that its "rapid progress" in making its entire portfolio more electric, software-based and emission-free will keep it on track with its aim to stop making ICE models in Europe by 2033.
