Vivo has expanded its Y-series portfolio by launching a new Vivo Y19 5G smartphone. The affordable 5G smartphone brings notable upgrades over the last generation model, the Vivo Y18, in terms of display, processor, and battery. Design-wise, the overall design of the smartphone has seen a major change. For example, the rear now has a pill-shaped camera module, and the front comes with a U-drop notch display.
Speaking of processors, Vivo has replaced the entry-level Helio G85 chipset from the last generation with the mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. The 5G chipset is paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with room for storage expansion via a dedicated microSD card slot. Software-wise, it runs Android 15-based FunTouch OS 15 out of the box, and there’s no word on the software updates from the brand.
As for the rear camera setup, Vivo downgrades the camera specs compared to the last generation. The Y19 5G features a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13 MP primary camera (down from 50 MP of the Vivo Y18) and a 0.08 MP secondary lens. Upfront, it has a 5 MP (down from 8 MP of its predecessor) camera for capturing selfies and video chats.
The battery capacity of the smartphone is now bigger than before. The device ships with a 5,500 mAh battery and supports 15 W wired charging. Plus, Vivo also slightly packs a larger display in the latest smartphone, featuring a 6.74-inch LCD display (up from 6.56 inches of the Vivo Y18) that outputs at a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels with a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
Despite the slightly larger battery from the predecessor, the Vivo Y19 5G is thinner than the Y18 (8.3 mm), measuring 8.1 mm (0.31 inches) in thickness and weighing just 199 grams (0.43 lbs). The rest of the highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5G connectivity, and AI features such as AI Erase, AI Photo Enhance, and AI Documents.
Available in titanium silver and majestic green colorways, the Vivo Y19 5G retails at INR 10,499 ($124.53) for the base 4 GB + 64 GB variant and the 6 GB + 128 GB model is priced at INR 12,999 ($154.19). The smartphone is now available for purchase via Vivo’s online store, Flipkart, and other authorized retailers.
