Vivo's ongoing X Fold2 pre-launch campaign might invite suspicion that its OEM has dropped alleged plans for a first-gen Samsung Galaxy Z Flip-killer in favor of the second-gen flagship Z Fold4 rival. However, a photo of Chinese actor Wang Ziwen showing what looks very like a real-life X Flip to a cat now suggests otherwise.
The putative last-minute in-the-wild leak, newly added to Digital Chat Station's Weibo feed, does indeed seem to indicate that Vivo will offer a new, even more portable, alternative to the X Fold2 on its launch. The image matches earlier "X Flip" design schematics, and also purports to reveal that those parts of the rear panel not covered by its impressively large camera hump and cover display will be finished in purple with a possibly raised diamond pattern.
The X Flip may prove as practical as it is stylish, with rumors of high-end internals informed by Vivo's early-onset expertise as a foldable tech OEM thus far. Otherwise, the new tip hints at a UI not hugely different from that of the OPPO Find N2 Flip, in that its cover display supports animated "pet"-themed always-on modes.
