The LG G6 was launched on Android Nougat just over a year ago, and LG has confirmed that the European model of the device will receive its update to Oreo in June.

It's been five months since Android Oreo was released, and one would expect most OEMs to have sorted out their Oreo updates by now. Not LG, though, as an announcement by LG Italy has confirmed that the device will receive its Oreo update by the end of June.

The G6 was one of LG's 2017 flagships. The device was announced in February and launched in March, with a subsequent lack of sales making it a commercial failure for the most part. Back in October, there was a sighting of the device running Android Oreo on Geekbench and, true to that, beta testing for the update began a few months later in China. A report, a few weeks ago, also claimed that the Middle East/Russian model of the device would receive the update in February. That hasn't been confirmed by any official source, though, so we'll have to wait and see.

Android Nougat and Oreo were both released in August, so we can expect a similar late August release for Android P. That considered, it's quite laughable that an OEM of LG's stature is set to send out updates to one of its current flagships just two months before the next iteration of Android is released.

Meanwhile, the V20, a flagship launched five months before the G6, is still stuck on the Android 7.0 it was released with, with no word of when it will receive an update to Oreo.
