Intel Arc Battlemage cards are reportedly releasing in Q4 of this year possibly exclusively for desktops. RedGamingTech has now issued an update for the flagship and mid-range Battlemage GPUs with a lower Execution Unit count than previously rumored. The leaker has also revealed some key architectural differences between Battlemage and Alchemist.

Amidst the rumors of Intel potentially canceling the flagship Arc Battlemage BMG G10 and the possible lack of any Battlemage parts for laptops, Paul Eccleston of RedGamingTech has now revealed updated specifications of an Arc Battlemage BMG G31 GPU alongside hardware details of a mid-range SKU. Additionally, the leaker has also compared the Battlemage architecture to Alchemist.

Starting with the architectural differences vs Alchemist, Paul claims that Battlemage has double the number of ALUs per Execution Unit (16) and half the number of EUs per Xe core (8). Combined, this results in 512 EUs in the top Battlemage GPU.

Flagship Battlemage BMG G31 specifications

Paul reports that the BMG G10 GPU that we’ve been hearing about for a while now has been canned and the new flagship will be the BMG G31.

The Battlemage BMG G31 has different specs than the G10 rumored previously with 32 Xe cores, 16 GB of GDDR6 or GDDR6x memory, a 256-bit wide bus, 24 or 32 MB L2 cache, and a boost clock of “high 2 GHz”. Moreover, the BMG G31 could be built on the TSMC N5P process and is comparable to the AD103 in die size which occupied 379 mm2, significantly smaller than the current Intel frontrunner, the Arc A770 (Available on Amazon).

Midrange Battlemage BMG G21 specifications

In addition to the top-end BMG G31, Paul suggests that we could see Arc Battlemage boards based on the mid-range BMG G21 GPU. The GPU reportedly features 20 Xe cores, a possible boost clock of “high 2 GHz”, a 192-bit bus, 16 GB of 20 Gbps GDDR6 or 6x VRAM, 16 MB of L2 cache, and PCIe Gen 5 x8.

Moreover, the GPU could come in around 250 mm2. As a comparison, the Arc A580 has a die size of 406 mm2 while the mid-range RX 7600 XT (Available on Amazon) and the RTX 4060 (Buy on Amazon) land at 204 mm2 and 159 mm2 respectively.

What’s interesting to note here is that Paul previously shared the specifications of a “Lower End SKU” of Battlemage. This SKU had almost the same hardware as the BMG G21 save for the considerably higher EU count (40 vs 20) and 2 MB more L2. So, Paul’s updated Battlemage specifications paint both the mid-range and flagship offerings as being less powerful than before, at least on paper.

That said, we can’t say anything about the hardware of Arc Battlemage until Intel shares more details. So, take Paul’s report with caution.
