AMD's new Radeon RX 7600 XT is now official. It is essentially a Radeon RX 7600 with more VRAM, higher clocks and TDP. One can purchase it starting on January 24.

AMD has finally launched what looks like a competitive mid-range graphics card that addresses a key issue with similarly-specced Nvidia counterparts: VRAM. The Radeon RX 7600 XT is finally official with a whopping 16 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. It comes with the full suite of RDNA 3 features such as Fluid Motion Frames, FSR 3.0, Radeon Super Resolution and more.

Interestingly, it features 32 Compute Units (CUs), the same as its non-XT counterpart ($269 on Amazon). The number of AI accelerators and stream processors remain identical at 64 and 2,048, respectively, as does the 32 MB of Infinity Cache. The key differences (other than the VRAM) lie in the game/boost clocks (2.47/2.76 GHz) and total board power (190 W). Lastly, the Radeon RX 7600 XT exclusively ships with DP 2.1 ports and supports AV1 encoding.

AMD markets the Radeon RX 7600 XT as a 1440p gaming card, which makes sense, given its VRAM capacity. Its initial comparison pits the RX 7600 XT against the RX 7600 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, where it unsurprisingly leads the pack. Todd Howard's Game Of The Generation Starfield, however, required FSR 2.0 to be switched on.

In a more realistic comparison against the GeForce RTX 4060, the Radeon RX 7600 XT is up to 73% faster at 1080p and 80% faster at 1440p. The performance figures highlighted include DLSS 2/3.0 and Frame Gen for the Nvidia card and FSR 2/3.0, Hypr-Rx, and Fluid Motion Frames for the 7600 XT. As always, first-party benchmarks should be treated with scepticism. Realistically speaking, the RX 7600 XT can serve as a decent 1440p card, but its lack of firepower may force you to switch off raytracing.

AMD has also confirmed FSR 3.0 is coming to Cyberpunk 2077, Frostpunk 2, Black Myth: Wukong and others. The Adrenaline app also gets some new features like AI-assisted video upscaling and optimizations for commonly used codecs like AV1 and HEVC. The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT has an MSRP of $329. Board partners include XFX, PowerColour, Sapphire, AsRock, Gigabyte and Acer.
