Huawei has announced that as many as 80 million smartphone owners woridwide now use EMUI 9, the latest custom version of Android developed by this OEM. This OS is officially available to a range of newer and older flagships. They include the Mate 10 and 9 series; the P20s and P10s, as well as the Nova 3 and its variants.
This means that Huawei phones from as far back as 2017 are still in line for an upgrade to its latest software. The OEM asserts that it has improved many aspects of the same in EMUI 9, from the UI to user privacy protection. Furthermore, it claims that phones on this version will continue to receive security-patch support in the future.
However, the company may not stop there. It estimates that as many as 20 million more phones may be updated to this form of EMUI by the end of June 2019. Given these impressive apparent stats, it is strange to think that it may also be one of the last versions - if not the last version - of Android ever developed by Huawei.
