Huawei, yesterday, unveiled a not-quite brand new device in the Maimang 8. Like all Maimang series phones, the Maimang 8 is exclusive to the Chinese market and will not be coming to the West.
The Maimang 8 sports a 6.21-inch FHD+ IPS display. There's a teardrop notch at the top of the phone, and bezels are reasonably slim. At the back of the phone is a triple camera setup: a 24 MP main snapper, 16 MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor for bokeh shots. At the front is an 8 MP selfie shooter.
The Maimang 8 is powered by a Kirin 710 and features 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. That storage is expandable by means of a MicroSD card. There's a 3400 mAh battery, chargeable via a MicroUSB port, which is just woeful to see on a device in 2019.
The Maimang series releases have usually been rebranded as the Mate Lite phones for the global market but the Maimang 8 looks to be a deviation from that thread as it has more in common with the P Smart+ (2019). Pricing starts at US$275.
