Huawei is rolling out EMUI 9.1 to Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X
The Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X have joined their P30 siblings on EMUI 9.1 less than a week after Huawei invited beta users to test the update on their Mate 20 devices. EMUI 9.1 introduces a slew of new features and has a huge 4.56 GB download size. Specifically, the EMUI 9.1.0.116 update brings the following to the Mate 20 Pro and the Mate 20 X:
- Gallery refinements
- Customise incoming call videos for contacts
- GPU Turbo 3.0
- HiVoice improvements
- PC continuity with the Huawei MateBook
- Simplified settings
- Third-party app notifications when the display is off
- Support for motion sensing games
- Ability to switch camera AI off
Huawei is currently limiting the update to just Chinese AL00 models, although XDA reports that you do not need to be in China to receive the update. Huawei has also been beta testing EMUI 9.1 on the Mate 20 and Mate 20 RS too, so we expect to see a stable build for these devices soon. Moreover, we expect that this is the first phase of a worldwide EMUI 9.1 roll-out for the Mate 20 series, which we suspect will happen over the coming weeks.
Let us know your thoughts on the EMUI 9.1 update in the comment section below. Likewise, we would like to hear your experiences of it if you have downloaded it on your Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X or Mate 20 RS.
