UMIDIGI's latest smartwatch, the Uwatch2, boasts a fully metallic unibody, an IP67 rating and a 1.33-inch 240x240 display. The OEM claims that it offers 25 days' worth of standby time and 7 to 10 days of active use. It is sold at US$33.32, although this comes down to $24 with an upcoming promotion.

Update: UMIDIGI is also now celebrating Amazon Prime Day by offering the Uwatch2 for as little as US$15.99. To be eligible for this offer, the buyer needs to buy one of the first 500 units sold on July 15, 2019, through this retailer.

Smartwatches are increasingly common and useful accessories. However, examples of these devices - particularly those that are more reasonably priced - can come in materials such as plastics that some individuals may not want in any kind of watch they would wear. UMIDIGI may have addressed this issue in the Uwatch2: its core is described as a unibody made of a zinc alloy. In addition, it has an IP67 ingress-protection rating, for those concerned about the durability of their potential wearable.

This new watch has a 1.33-inch 240x240 display covered in 2.5D curved glass. The OEM claims that its touch sensitivity is improved compared to the first-gen Uwatch. This wearable is distinctly aimed at health-conscious consumers, with a heart-rate monitor, pedometer, motion-tracker and sleep tracker among its specs.

UMIDIGI does not specify which OS the Uwatch2 runs - or if it even has one, for that matter. However, it is claimed that the watch can manage notifications, provide a remote control for a phone's camera or audio playback, switch wallpapers or watchfaces and log exercise-related activities.

The Uwatch2 is powered by the Nordic nRF52832, a 64-megahertz CPU based on ARM Cortex-M4F cores. These specs may seem risible (not to mention rarified) in this day and age, but they may also confer the advantage of extremely low power consumption.

UMIDIGI claims that the watch can indeed last up to 25 days on standby, or up to 10 when in active use. The nRF52832 is also rated to support Bluetooth 5.0 or Bluetooth LE, up to 512KB of flash memory with up to 64KB RAM and NFC. Then again, UMIDIGI does not list all of those properties in relation to the Uwatch2.

The OEM now sells this wearable on its Aliexpress store for a price of US$33.32. However, it has also announced a promotion by which one can be ordered for just $24 - so long as the buyer selects one of the first 500 units sold between July 15 and July 21, 2019.

Every Uwatch2 also comes with 2 straps with each purchase: a silicon band and a mesh stainless steel alternative. Therefore, those who want a watch that can look good for a decent price, and has at least some smart features, have a new option with this new UMIDIGI wearable.
