An earlier report covered convincing clues indicating the existence of a new UMIDIGI flagship with an in-display fingerprint scanner called the X. These rumors have now been confirmed, as this OEM is now preparing to sell this phone on sites such as AliExpress.
The UMIDIGI X's specs match those found in its existing leaks closely. For example, it has a 4150mAh battery and rear triple cameras, one of which is a 48MP AI-enhanced sensor as projected (however, it is the Samsung GM1 and not the Sony IMX586). The others are an 8MP ultra wide, 120-degree lens and a 5MP depth-sensor.
This new phone also has a 6.35-inch screen, as promised. However, it is also of a HD+ resolution, the same rather low-grade aspect for which the Xiaomi Mi A3 has recently brooked much tech-correspondent castigation.
Apart from this, the UMIDIGI X also has 18W fast charging, the MediaTek Helio P60 SoC and a single 4/128GB. Its choice of 2 color variants are a Breathing Crystal also seen in recent Huawei releases, as well as a slightly more original black-to-red gradient.
Sales of this phone will commence on August 26, 2019, at which point AliExpress will have what it asserts to be "global versions" of the UMIDIGI X in stock. They will have a wide range of LTE bands (nearly all between B1 and B71, as well as B38, 40 and 41. They will start at US$179.99 on this date, although this special price only applies for 4 days after its release.
