Top 20 games: These two titles dominate the charts as surprise climbers gain ground

Last month, Electronic Arts' soccer sim EA Sports FC 26 comfortably secured first place among the best-selling video games in Germany. Directly behind it, an entirely new title landed in second place. Capcom's new action adventure Pragmata sends players straight to the moon. There, as an astronaut, players explore a deserted research station. Alongside a mysterious android girl, they must somehow survive in this entirely hostile environment. This fresh sci-fi setting was extremely well received by the community and immediately drove strong sales.

There was also plenty of movement across the rest of the top 5. Bethesda catapulted its massive RPG Starfield back into the ranking, reentering directly in fifth place. The title owes this major boost to its recent release on PlayStation 5. Just ahead of it, two familiar heavyweights from Rockstar Games settled in comfortably. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 climbed back up the chart, landing in third and fourth place.

Sixth place went to another newcomer. With Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, Nintendo delivered an extremely relaxed life sim. The focus here is on Mii characters, who build social relationships on a virtual island and experience small everyday adventures.

The analysis shows the latest sales figures for PC titles and console games across Germany. It is based on mixed data. On the one hand, it includes traditional purchases of physical games at retail. On the other, the system also factors in digital downloads from major platforms such as Steam, PSN and the Xbox Store. There is one important caveat, however. Sales from Nintendo's digital eShop are generally not included in this survey. That makes the strong presence of Nintendo games on the list all the more notable.
