The award-winning PS4 exclusive, Horizon Zero Dawn, sold over 7.6 million copies in its first year

The PlayStation 4 has been the best-selling console of this generation, and that is, in no small part, due to the number of exclusives it's had. While still a long way from matching the PS2 and PS3's library size, the PS4 has had a number of great exclusives that give it the edge over its Nintendo and Microsoft rivals. 

One of such exclusives is Horizon Zero Dawn, a game that was released a year ago. The game has been hailed as offering one of the best visually stimulating experiences in the history of console gaming, and its strong gameplay and excellent story make it one of the best games of this generation. All of that acclaim also translates into sales too, thankfully, as the game has sold over 7.6 million copies since its launch on February 28, 2017. 

That's particularly impressive, considering the fact that the game is a PS4 exclusive, and the PS4 has sold just over 70 million units since its launch. It also makes Horizon Zero Dawn the second highest-selling game on the PS4, below fellow exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Uncharted 4 was released in May 2016, and has about 8.7 million copies sold, so it's almost inevitable that Horizon Zero Dawn will be taking its crown soon...until GTA VI is released at least.

The anniversary of Horizon Zero Dawn will be celebrated in worthy fashion by Sony, with the company releasing a number of free Horizon Zero Dawn-based items on the PlayStation Store.
