The Sony Xperia 1 is now listed on Amazon US with a hefty US$999 price tag
Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 a few weeks ago at MWC. The device is yet to ship out anywhere, but is expected to get to the UK by the end of May. The flagship has now been listed on Amazon US, and with a heavy US$999 price tag.
The Xperia 1 features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display. The company has heavily marketed the phone’s 21:9 CinemaWide display that’s geared towards media consumption and creation. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 855, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. There’s a triple rear camera setup that comprises of a wide-angle, telephoto, and main shooter. All three are 12 MP sensors. The selfie shooter is an 8 MP one. Other features include a 3300 mAh battery and IP68 certification.
While US$999 is quickly becoming the norm for flagship phones, we’re not sure if the Xperia 1 is actually worth it. But then again, it can be argued that no mainstream smartphone is actually worth that. The Galaxy S10+ also costs US$999, and is mostly a better device.
While the page is up on Amazon, it says that the device will not ship until December 31. That seems like a placeholder shipping date, though, and an April-May release is a lot likelier.
