MWC19 | Sony releases MWC teaser; Xperia XA3 and XA3 Plus to be renamed Xperia 10 and 10 Plus
For many observers, it could seem that Sony is preparing to make a huge splash in the smartphone ocean once again. There was a time when the Japanese manufacturer commanded a decent share of the smartphone market, but that has dwindled to practically nothing compared to other major brands. However, it is possible that Xperia XZ4, Xperia 10, and Xperia 10 Plus devices wielding Sony’s “CinemaWide” displays could drastically improve Sony Mobile’s fortunes.
A teaser video for MWC19 shows swirling colors being intersected by white lines before the camera zooms out to show a rectangular shape and Sony’s MWC appearance information (February 25 at 08:45 CET). The Xperia XZ4, 10, and 10 Plus are expected to come in tall and slender forms, which will certainly appeal to those who like to watch movies or videos on their smartphones.
As for the Xperia XA3 and XA3 Plus, both Roland Quandt and Ishan Agarwal are convinced that these devices will now be called the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. The Xperia 10 could have a Snapdragon 630 and 3 GB RAM while the Plus version could sport a Snapdragon 660 and 4 GB RAM. These are midrange smartphone specifications, but it is likely it will be the 21:9 CinemaWide display that will be the unique selling point for attracting potential buyers.
