First Pixel 4 XL leak alludes to dual rear cameras and a punch-hole akin to that of the Galaxy S10+
Google released the Pixel 3 phones back in October last year, five months ago. The first set of leaks on the devices have now appeared, in the form of a 2D sketch of what is said to be the Pixel 4 XL.
Going by the leak, the Pixel 4 XL will sport a camera punch-hole. Samsung brought the punch-hole to the market with the Galaxy A8s, and followed it up with Galaxy S10 phones last month. Other OEMs have also used that design, most notable being Huawei with the Nova 4 and Honor View 20. Like with the notch last year, punch-holes are almost certain to be the trend this year, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Google join the bandwagon with the Pixel 4 phones.
The punch-hole shown is the pill-shaped one seen on the Samsung Galaxy S10+. That makes sense, of course, since it’s designed for dual selfie cameras, and the Pixel 3 phones already feature a similar setup.
The sketch also shows the Pixel 4 XL with a dual rear camera setup. Google has eschewed a dual setup until now and it’s about time the Pixel phones featured a secondary lens. The phones are, perhaps, the best camera smartphones in the market but the lack of supporting hardware does diminish from their overall utility. It’s unknown what kind of lens Google could opt for, but it’s almost definitely going to be a toss-up between a telephoto and wide-angle lens.
Interestingly, there's no fingerprint reader on the back of the device. An in-display one, perhaps? Who knows.
Of course, you’d do well to take all of this with a pinch of salt.
