The wait for Android 10 on the Pocophone F1 goes on, with the device remaining on Android 9.0 Pie for the time being. The device last received an update in November, with v11.0.5.0.PEJMIXM having the October 2019 Android security patch installed. Owners of Xiaomi's only Poco device are not too happy about this, with many now petitioning Xiaomi executives for any news.
The publication of Android 10 kernel source code for the device last month prompted further speculation that Xiaomi was on the verge of releasing an Android 10 update, which the GM of Xiaomi Indonesia has been happy to stoke. Replying to one person today, Alvin Tse tweeted the following:
After MIUI 11, the big update is Android Q so all the changes are merged into that build which is being worked on and will release once ready
At the time of writing, all other Snapdragon 845-powered Xiaomi smartphones have received Android 10 builds of MIUI 11, including the Mi Mix 3 and Mi 8. All these devices have received their first Android 10 builds in the last few days, too. Hence, most of the work to get Android 10 builds of MIUI 11 running on the Pocophone F1 should have already been done.
Taking into account that Xiaomi also typically updates stable branches of MIUI every 1-2 months, then all signs point towards the Pocophone F1 being overdue an update. If recent releases of MIUI 11 are anything to go by, then Xiaomi may release Android 10 for the Pocophone F1 first to the China Stable branch. Expect to see the update called V11.0.1.0.QEJCNXM too, with European and Global builds following a few weeks later.
