The BBK Electronics subsidiary OPPO is most often associated with phones; however, it has been rumored to break into tablets for some time now. The OEM has finally announced that this is indeed the case, thereby confirming several months' worth of leaks in just 1 Weibo post.
The slate's inaugural official teaser reveals that OPPO has gone with an arguably predictable moniker for its first-gen tablet. Appropriately enough, this upcoming own-brand Pad is not a million miles away from that of OPPO's sister brand Realme in terms of looks.
On the other hand, this version has acquired a funky strip of branding, presented as a play on the English-language letters that make up its maker's name. The accent goes well with its metallic-looking unibody, flat slim edges and single rear camera.
This final design is finished in either black and what might be a shade of lilac (or, possibly, silver-gray under fancy lighting as with the Legion Y700 in its own latest pre-launch teaser). Either colorway frames a large screen with slim enough bezels, although OPPO leaves its specs, dimensions included, out of this initial teaser.
Similarly, the new tablet's OS is left to the imagination for now, although a build of Android is the most likely option here. Nevertheless, OPPO has managed to promote its new Pencil, ostensibly designed for this new form factor, in the course of affirming its compatible slate's existence.
It is also now clear that OPPO's first-gen Pad, not to mention the Pencil to go with it, will debut as part of the Find X5 global product event, scheduled to take place on February 24, 2022.
